Men sleeping in the nude is something that might be frowned upon in some prudish quarters, but those who practise it on a regular basis can now point to a very valid reason for doing so. Here are 5 great reasons to let it all hang out tonight.
1. Raise your sperm count
Your scrotum needs to be just the right temperature in order to optimize sperm production. When your testicles are too warm, your sperm quality suffers. So if you’re in the market to make some babies, researchers advise wearing loose-fitting boxers during the day and go commando at night.
2. Boost your love life
Skin-on-skin contact with another person triggers the release of the hormone oxytocin in your brain, reducing stress levels, lowering blood pressure and making you feel more connected to the other person, and as such, increasing your sex drive. Brushing up against each other naked in bed often leads to good things.
3. Protect your testicles
Sleeping in your underwear increases the odds that you’ll get an infection in the worst possible place. Your drawers keep heat and moisture in. More bacteria makes for a higher likelihood that any chaffed or irritated skin down there becomes infected. Skip your skivvies to keep your balls cleaner, drier, and healthier.
4. Better sleep quality
In order to fall asleep, your core body temperature needs to drop by about half a degree. And in order to stay asleep, that ideal body temperature needs to be regulated, otherwise your brain will wake itself up to see why you’re so hot.
The advantage of sleeping naked is that it’s easier for your body to cool down quicker, and to maintain that lower body temperature your brain wants to achieve.
5. Make you look younger
Turns out sleeping naked could make you look younger, too. Keeping your body temperature cooler while you sleep helps anti-aging and restorative hormones like HGH and DHEA work their magic. Getting too hot at night disrupts sleep, which interrupts the production of our favorite hormones, making it more difficult to stay sexy and youthful.
